Transforming Warehouse Data into Actionable Business Intelligence

Problem

For WAER systems, their customers needed an effective way to extract, analyse, and visualise data from WAERlinx, a Warehouse Management System. While the system contained valuable operational data, customers lacked accessible, insightful reporting that could present this information clearly through KPIs, charts, graphs, and advanced visual elements such as maps, in order to support informed decision-making.

Solution

WAERb.i was developed as a business intelligence solution built on the Qlik BI platform to address these needs. The tool extracts analytical data from WAERlinx and presents it through a comprehensive suite of reports tailored to customer reporting requirements.

Let's take the use case of a warehouse manager. User research I conducted showed managers needed a simple, high level overview of the days tasks, with progress in real time - whether this was the amount of stock that needed to be picked from shelves, packed, or any goods received.

There was also a strong demand for dashboards to be viewable to anyone in the warehouse on a big TV, so all charts had to fit into one view to tell the full story, and help give warehouse workers real-time feedback.

In terms of process, I analysed customer needs, designed dashboard structures, and directed the BI consultant in implementing calculation scripts. In parallel, I led the product’s branding and promotion by creating the logo, digital assets, marketing website, and multiple email campaigns. Within its first few months, WAERb.i successfully attracted signups from several WAER customers.
